In addition to his solo work, Malinowski is the lead singer, founder and songwriter for multi-platinum band Bedouin Soundclash. “Spiritually, whether it’s solo work or band work, I derive my inspiration from the church of Joe Strummer——I will never forget hearing the Clash for the first time and wondering ‘what is this music that seems to be on the edge of everything and sounds like nothing else?”
Malinowski has taken that approach with all his projects, always pushing the music to a new place and being genreless. “When someone tells you, that’s not allowed I always think its an interesting place to go.”
In addition to his music, Malinowski is also a painter. He had his first solo exhibition of work in 2004 in Toronto and continues to paint to this day. His work has been published in many magazines and exhibitions since.
Malinowski has also published a novel “Skulls & Bones” which was an accompaniment to his ‘Martel” album. In 2010 he ran with the Olympic Torch for the Vancouver Olympic Games.
